Rings go to SWAT Challenge winners

Capt. Allen Freeman, an officer at the Spartanburg County Detention Center, is in Chattanooga, Tenn., today where he will present rings to the champions of the 2005 National SWAT Challenge.

The eight-member team from the Chattanooga Police Department won the event earlier this year.

This was the 12th annual competition hosted by the detention center and the first time the winners have been given rings instead of a trophy.

Participants from several states attend the four-day meet, Larry Powers, director of the detention center, said.
